Once again entries for the AOP Student Awards were of an excellent standard making for a tough decision for the judges. As there is no set brief the AOP Student Awards, sponsored by Epson, continue to offer students of photography the opportunity to push themselves creatively as well as technically.
The judges had to choose from almost 2000 images from entries comprised of single images and series of work within four categories: Lifestyle & Portraiture, Still Life, Fashion & Beauty and Landscapes, Interiors, Exteriors. They agreed on one overall winner and awarded two Merits. There are a total of 77 images in the exhibition. Judge Kathy Brewis commented "There was a pleasing variety of entries, some clear stand-out images and several top photographers in the making”

The winner of the coveted AOP Student Photographer of the Year award will be announced at the prize giving on 20th May 2008, at the AOP Gallery, London.

The AOP Assistants Awards showcases the best of the next generation of professional photographers. Judged by specialists from the photographic world, the exhibition features the work of 35 Assistant Members including the AOP Assistant of the Year. The Winners and Merits will be displayed alongside all other selected images across 7 categories, featuring over 100 images. The 2008 AOP Assistants Awards Book will also be on sale at the exhibition.
