The AOP Student Awards 2009 27 May - 5 June 2009 @ AOP Gallery The Association of Photographers has been running an annual competition for students since 1981.These awards recognise the excellent standard of photography produced by individuals studying on photography related courses in the U.K. Now, a quarter of a century since their inception, the Student Awards continue to flourish and offer the winning students and their colleges both support and valuable publicity.
One entrant will be crowned the AOP Student of the Year at the prize giving night on Wednesday 27th May. They will receive a double page spread in the AOP Photographers Award book, a day’s work experience with a high-profile AOP member, an EOS 5D Mark2 kit with EF24-105mm LIS Lens from our sponsor Canon, plus extensive press coverage. As if that isn’t enough, we may also use their winning images to promote the AOP Student Awards and AOP Student in the following year.
There will also be prizes for Merit Awards, plus all finalists will have their winning images exhibited in a 2-week exhibition at the AOP Gallery, from 27th May – 5th June, as well as being the main feature in the Student Awards Book. For further information visit the Awards website here The AOP Lecturer's Award Now in it’s third year the AOP Lecturer’s Award, sponsored by Canon, is a fairly new addition to our Awards programme. Although there is nothing else like it being run in the country at the current time, we had no doubt that the response to opening it up to all photographic lecturers would be positive. The quality of work entered was of a very high standard, which is a testament to the personal work lecturers and technicians are producing.
The idea for the AOP Lecturer’s Award originally came from two of our photographer members and it didn’t take long for us to realise the potential in opening the door to more photographers, giving them the opportunity to show off their talents. The winning images are on show alongside the Student Awards exhibition. The remaining 11 finalists work is reproduced in a calendar available for sale from the AOP Gallery at £4.99.
